St Rose Health Centre – Registered Nurse Midwife

St. Rose Health Centre is a Roman Catholic institution located in rural area of Leribe district at Peka, and is owned by Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. It is currently looking for a dedicated and passionate candidate to perform duties in the following position:

JOB TITTLE: Registered Nurse Midwife

GRADE: F

FIXED-TERM CONTRACT: 2 years (01 May 2026-01 May 2028)

NUMBER OF POSTS: 1

JOB SUMMARY:

A registered nurse midwife being one of the health providers is expected to be an educator, advocate, counsellor, researcher on health issues and manager at work situation, He/she should be independent or interdependent on His/her own rights, and should apply competency in patient care, in outpatient department caring out diagnostic and in other clinical areas where all activities as his/her profession commitment in the obstetric field. Lastly that will be beneficial for the productivity of the organization.

RELATIONS:

1. Registered Midwife reports directly to Nurse Clinician

2. Technical support will be provided by Nurse Clinician.

SCHEDULING:

1. In the absence of the Nurse Clinician he/she should draw monthly schedule for the Health Centre.

2. A Registered Nurse Midwife will be assigned to both day and night calls at due times by a Nurse in Charge.

DELEGATION AND ORGANIZATION:

  1. Will work collaboratively with Nurse Clinician.
  2. Will delegate duties to the Health Centre personnel through the mandate of the Nurse in Charge
  3. Will monitor the progress of allocated duties to ensure quality nursing care.
  4. Will report all Health Centre activities to the relevant stakeholders.
  5. Plans care of the patients with entire Health Centre clinical staff.
  6. Screen and monitor pregnant mothers attending ANC.
  7. Monitor mothers in labour and instituting management activities per every stage of labour, through proper filling of partograph.
  8. Immunize babies post-delivery and encourage mothers on attending under 5 clinics as per clinic schedule.
  9. Investigate and resolve staff complaints or refer them to the Nurse in Charge and report such proceedings to the Nurse in Charge.
  10. Will perform comprehensive mother and child health services (MCH, ANC, PNC, EPI and IMCI)
  11. Provision of care on HIV and AIDS services (HTS, PMTCT, and ART) at all levels.
  12. Provision of OPD services.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Two years or more work experience in the Health Centre setting.
  2. Computer literacy is an added advantage.
  3. Candidate should be eager to learn

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION:

Must be registered with the Lesotho Nursing Council with annual subscription up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a Diploma in General nursing and Midwifery from a recognized institution.
