chalTebellong LECSA Hospital in Qacha’s Nek is looking for suitable candidates to fill the following position;
JOB TITLE : Senior Laboratory Technologist
RESPONSIBLE TO : Medical Superintendent
GRADE : G
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Medical Superintendent, the Senior Laboratory Technologist is responsible for implementation of quality procedures, sample analysis, stock management, institute safety procedures, conduct in-service training, validates and verifies test result, conduct equipment verification and troubleshooting, contributes in reviewing of standard operating procedures (SOP).
MAIN DUTIES
- IMPLEMENT QUALITY PROCEDURES WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT
- Reviews internal quality control and external quality assurance for release of reliable test results.
- Interprets quality control data
- INSTITUTE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- Daily ensures that safety measures are instituted for example Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) are properly used, benches are disinfected etc
- Monthly conducts safety inspection
- Orientates newly employed staff on safety measures
- TRAININGS
- Provides in-service training materials to junior staff
- Trains junior staff on test menus
- COMPILE STATISTICS
- Compile data for workload assessment and inventory control and submit report to the Medical Superintendent
- MANAGEMENT
- Heads the laboratory department
- Compiles monthly reports for hospital management meetings
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science
- At least 5 years working experience in Medical Laboratory.

- Leadership skills
