JOB TITLE: Nursing Assistant
POSITION: 4
RELATIONS: Reports directly to the Registered Nurse Midwife
JOB SUMMARY: The scope of practice of Nursing Assistant entails the following acts and procedures as part of the nursing regime planned and initiated by a Registered Nurse/Midwife and carried out under direct or indirect supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote and maintain the health of individuals, families and communities through health education.
- Provide nursing care at all settings.
- Promote nutrition of patient, families and communities.
- Facilitate communication with patients during their care.
- Prepare individuals and groups for execution of diagnostic procedures and therapeutic act by a clinical team.
JOB SPECIFICATION
- Certificate in Nursing Assistant
- 2 years working experience
- Registration with Lesotho Nursing Council with up-to-date license
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent communication skills
- Be able to work with clinical and non clinical team
- Ability to maintain professional and ethical principles
- Maintain high level of confidentiality
Job Title: Registered Nurse Midwife
Positions: 1
Relation: Reports directly to the Nursing Officer
Job summary: The incumbent should be independent or interdependent in her/his own right, carrying out diagnostic and therapeutic activities as on profession permits especially in the obstetric field.
The incumbent shall:
- Report all ward activities to other stakeholders.
- Allocate duties within her scope of practice as a Registered Midwife.
- Ensure proper personal hygiene of all patients in the ward.
- Ensure holistic care to the patients/relatives
- Assist Medical Officer with patients’ information during ward rounds carries out prescription thereafter.
- Delegate duties to the ward personnel through the mandate of the Nursing Officer or In charge of the ward or in her/his absence.
- Maintain proper recording in the patient’s records i.e. keeping clear, accurate and complete records during pregnancy, labor and puerperium.
Job Specification:
- Diploma in both General Nursing and Midwifery.
- At least minimum of two years of working experience as a Nurse Midwife.
- Must be registered with Lesotho Nursing Council with up- to – date license
