Project Coordinator
The Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL) is a voluntary organization of six member churches, namely the Roman Catholic Church (RCC), the Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa (LECSA), the Church of the Bible Covenant (CBC), the Assemblies of God Lesotho (AGL), the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA), and the Anglican Church in Lesotho (ACL). CHAL was registered in Lesotho in 1974 under the Societies Act. CHAL facilities include 8 hospitals, 4 Nurses Training Institutes and 71 Health Centres, providing about 40% of healthcare services to the people of Lesotho living in rural, peri-urban and urban settings. CHAL collaborates with various partners in delivering health care services to fulfil its mandate and as such, implements various donor funded projects to promote good health for all Basotho. CHAL has been awarded a grant by Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) to improve access to quality and effective pharmaceutical services in church health facilitieswith a focus on addressing Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and strengthening Infection, Prevention & Control measures (IPC).
It is against this background that CHAL invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the Position of PROJECT COORDINATOR as per the below requirements:

Key Responsibililties and functions Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programs, Project Coordinator will: Comply with national, regional and international pharmaceutical laws.Support CHAL facilities pharmacy personnel to ensure that they play their part in the provision of pharmaceutical services.Liaise with the Ministry of Health, CHAL facilities and other stakeholders to ensure that the project activities are done within the agreed budget, timeframe and quality. Support CHAL facilities to guard against any form of malpractice or non-compliance to prescribed standard operating procedures.Support CHAL facilities to ensure accurate record keeping of all activities happening in the pharmacy department.Provide training to CHAL facilities on proper handling of drugs (storage, usage, distribution and disposal, establishment of antimicrobial stewardship committees (AMS), Monitoring proper prescribing patterns through prescription audits).Provide follow-on mentorship and on-site support to CHAL facilities pharmacy staff.Conduct Supportive supervisions to the facilities.Provide advice on medicines selection.Support CHAL facilities to ensure that good inventory practices are maintained.Support CHAL facilities to ensure that drug related problems mitigation strategies are in place-pharmacovigilance.Support facilities to ensure adherence to standard treatment guidelines.Preparation and submission monthly, quarterly and annual reports. | Qualifications: Hold a B. A degree in Pharmacy and should be registered with relevant local regulatory authorities (Lesotho Medical Dental and Pharmacy Council of Lesotho) Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Pharmacist and experience in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) stewardship activities. Skills and Abilities Proven management experience in supervision of staff in cross-functional teams. Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with others, both internally and externally. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality. Leadership and managerial skills Team builder. Upholds the vision, mission and philosophy of the institution. Good project management skills. |
